Alternative WAHM WorkSpace: KopiRoti Davao

I feel so bad that it took me so long to write about KopiRoti, considering I’ve been working in this place for several months now. I guess it’s because I’ve been so comfortable, it almost feels like home…

Quiet, Comfortable, Reliable

Compared to other coffee houses in the city, KopiRoti is quite humble. The place doesn’t try to be hip or cool. It’s relaxed and easygoing without trying too hard.

They only have a few items on their menu and most of the fare is simple, but I think this is one of the reasons why it was so easy for me to be comfortable. No fancy frapuccinos or fancy designer cupcakes here. The menu stays the same, year in, year out. But what you miss out on variety, they make up for affordability.

The sameness may bore some, but you can’t beat the reliability of their service. Their internet is almost always working at full speed when I worked there. The restroom is always clean (which is  a BIG deal for me). And you can’t beat the affordable  healthy, child-friendly treats. When I have my daughter with me, she has her choice of smoothies, yogurt pops, and milk sandwiches; no chips or junk food to tempt her.

It’s also surprising how quiet the the place is, even though it’s next to  a major road, and even during peak hours. Normally, it’s hard to completely focus when working in a coffee shop. But when I work here, I’m able to focus completely to the point that I sometimes forget about the time.

But Not Too Comfortable

I love this place but it’s not perfect. Unlike most coffee shops, they don’t have a couch. So I can’t be completely comfortable and nap.

And they do charge a fee to plug in your laptop and devices (P30) but it’s fair considering the coffee and food items they serve are also cheaper than most coffee shops.

So if you’re looking for a place to break the monotony of working at home but still be able to really work, KopiRoti is the place to go. Considering how often I’m there, we’ll probably bump into one another one of these days.

You can find KopiRoti Davao along Jacinto Extension, one block away from MetroLifestyle, just beside Central Convenience.
